FIELD DAY
The ARRL's annual Field Day is held the last full weekend of June each year. The object of Field Day is to get on the air and make as many contacts as possible. While you can operate Field Day from a home QTH, the operative word is generally FIELD as in getting out in the field and operating from temporary facilities.
Now, the ARRL tells us that Field Day is not a contest...... and then tells us how many points each contact is worth and then releases the results after logs are submitted and processed. Sure sounds like a contest to me!
