I would like to propose we invite once a year the ARRL officials for the Oregon Section and the Northwest Division to one of our club meetings. They can discuss and inform club members about the ARRL, what it does, programs it has and it's participation in regulatory aspects for the hobby. I would ask they bring brochures and handouts.

Oregon Section Manager is John Core KX7YT
Northwest Division Director Jim Pace K7CEX
Northwest Division Vice Director Bonnie Altus AB7ZQ

That is a really good idea, Bill! Do we have a representative to the ARRL for our club - maybe they would be the one to contact John Core or Jim Pace and find out if they could pull off a visit to one of our meetings?

Curt,

I think we could have the Secretary send an open invite to visit the club. Their schedule may not fit ours but an open invitation would be nice.

Another idea is to invite them to the Field Day event. I assume the RVARC will be collaborating with us in that event. Possibly one of those ARRL people will come down and talk with the group.

Also I would like some of the membership attend the Seaside hamfest. It will have the ARRL people there too. This year the PNWVHF Society will have their convention in Seaside at another time. They have some very interesting lectures and ham stuff to see. I will get those dates and information to you.

AS PIO you may want to consider sending the Oregon Section Manager a “report” when we do things like the parade, Field Day or any other public interest event. It puts us in the spotlight in the state ARRL organization.

Let’s increase the Fun Factor!
